Embryo Purchace Entry

ENTERING AN EMBRYO PURCHASE

  1. Click Entries, Embryo transfer, purchase. You will have a blue screen
  2. Donor registration number
    1. enter the registration number of the donor of the purchased embryos.
    2. registration number may NOT previously have been identified into the herd.
    3. registration number must consist of CANF##########
  3. Donor registered name
    enter the full registered name of the donor.
  4. Barn name
    enter the quick reference name of the donor.
  5. Birth date
    enter the birth date of the donor.
  6. Breed
    enter the breed of the donor. HO for Holstein.
  7. Recovery date
    identify the recovery date of the embryos.
    enter the recovery date in the format of DD/MM/YY.
    a service date of seven days less than the recovery date is automatically assumed.
  8. Purchase date
    identify the date the embryos were purchased.
    enter the purchase date in the format of DD/MM/YY
    purchase date must come after date of recovery and prior to implant date.
  9. IETS Code
    identify the International Embryo Transfer Society Code for the practice which collected the embryos. (Eg: E549).
  10. Sire name/number/registration number
    identify the service sire of the embryo
    sire must have been identified into herd inventory under Entries: Identification and have service sire identified as: Yes.
    skip the sire number with if only the registration number is known
    entering the number automatically causes the registration number to be retrieved.
  11. Embryo development stage possible codes are:
    2 - 12 cells
    early morula
    morula
    early blastocyst
    blastocyst
    expanded blastocyst
    hatched blastocys
    expanded hatched blastocyst
  12. Quality of the embryo  possible codes are:
    excellent
    good
    fair
    poor
  13. Manipulation of the embryo
    optional data.
    possible codes are:
    Bisect
    Clone
    Divided
    Nuclear
    Split
  14. Embryo reference
    Record the identification number of the embryo from the previous ET firm. (the identification of the embryo on file at the breed association)
    Eg: E14 or ET
  15. Sex of embryo possible codes are:
    Female
    Male
    Unknown
  16. Embryo state record the embryo as fresh or frozen, possible codes are:
    0. fresh
    1. frozen

If the embryo is purchased fresh the following information must be identified:

  1. Recipient identification:
    identify the number of the recipient into which the embryo was implanted.
    if the recipient has not previously been identified in the herd database, press <enter> to identify the recipient by name.
  2. Recipient Name
    identify the recipient by name.
    if recipient is an "out house" recipient, identify using letters or letters and numbers.
  3. Condition
    identify the condition of the recipient. possible codes are:
    Good
    Fair
    Poor
  4. Synchrony
    identify the synchrony of the recipient with the age of the embryo. synchrony may range from, -5 to 5.
  5. Induced possible codes are:
    Yes
    No
  6. Pres F9 key to save.

If the embryo is purchased frozen, the following information must be identified:

  1. Washing with cryoprotectant possible codes are:
    Glycerine
    Ethylene gkycol
    Propylene glycol
    Other
  2. Number of washes
    record the number of times the embryos were washed (including the trypsin washes)
  3. Trypsin wash possible codes are:
    Yes
    No
