Westfalia/Dairy Plan - Create Link

To initiate link with VAMPP and Dairyplan

  1. Copy the following files from the VAMPP CD into the C:\Dairypln directory on your computer.
         Breed21.bat
         Breed21.dst
  2. Go into Windows Explorer 
  3. Go to the C:\Dairypln directory
  4. Select the Breed21.bat file and right click for a menu to appear. 
  5. Choose the option: Send to desktop (create shortcut) this will create a shortcut on your desktop to retrieve your herd data from VAMPP into Dairyplan

 


 

 Configure VAMPP to export datafile to Westfalia.

  1. For all active animals, enter their responder numbers in VAMPP under the menu option Entries: Animal records: Id change 
    The responder numbers are entered in the field Secondary id/Responder number
  2. In VAMPP select: Export herd datafile button on the tool bar or by selecting the menu option: Industry: On farm system: export data file
  3. Enter the registration number for Westfal which is obtained from the 1-800-661-6601 VAMPP support line.
  4. An Open export file layout box will pop up. 
  5. Select Westfal
  6. Check off set as default
  7. Check off edit local setup
  8. Click on OK
  9. In the Export parameters for Westfal, type: C:\DAIRYPLN\BREED.TXT
  10. On the run report date, click OK for today's date. 
  11. The following windows will appear: Exporting Farm number # (Westfal) 
  12. This will generate a breed.txt file in the C:\Dairypln directory of your computer. 
  13. Click on OK when done. 
  14. Click on the file C:\Dairypln\breed21.bat or the shortcut to Breed21.bat on your desktop to read the herd data file from VAMPP into Dairyplan.
  15. Westfalia should be updated.

 


 

 Once verified that the data transfer process is working properly, these steps can be placed in an automatic scheduler. To do this:  

  1. In the menu go to: File: Utilities: schedule events 
  2. Click on the Job pull down list and select Export. 
  3. For Parameter select: Name and in the Value box, type: Westfal 
  4. For the Parameter select: Path and in the Value box, type C:\Dairypln\
  5. For Parameter select: File and in the Value box, type: breed21.txt
  6. For the frequency button, select: daily and define the time to run the file 
  7. Press the Save button on the toolbar.
    This step can be setup to be done as many times per day as desired.  

 Create an automatic event transfer scheduled event in Dairyplan in the Windows scheduler.

  1. Click on the Windows Task Scheduler. 
  2. Click on Add Scheduled Task
  3. Click on Next
  4. Click on Browse
  5. On the window - select program to schedule, click on Dairypln
  6. Then click on the file name breed21.bat and click on Open
  7. Select Daily and then define the time of day that you wish to have Dairyplan transfer in the daily events from VAMPP's file breed21.txt.  

Once the export of data is working properly, following are instructions to import the milk file data.

  1. Copy the following files from the VAMPP CD into the C:\Darypln directory on your computer.
         vamppmilk.bat
         vampp-rq.dii
         v-dpmilk.dii
  2. Go into Windows Explorer 
  3. Go to the C:\Dairypln directory
  4. Select the vamppmilk.bat file and right click on your mouse for a menu to appear. 
  5. Choose the option: Send to desktop (create shortcut) this will create a shortcut on your desktop to retrieve your milk data from Dairyplan into VAMPP.  

 Configure VAMPP to import milk datafile from Westfalia.

  1. In VAMPP select the menu option: Industry: On farm system: import data file 
  2. An Import file layout box will pop up. 
  3. Select Westfal 
  4. Check off set as default.
  5. Check off edit local setup.
  6. Click on OK
  7. In the Import parameters for Westfal, for file name, type: c:\dairypln\v-dpmilk.dii
  8. In the Import parameters for Westfal, for units, identify: kgs or pounds.
  9. On the run report date, click OK for today's date. 
  10. The following windows should appear: Importing Farm number # (Westfal) 
  11. This will generate a breed.txt file in the C:\Dairypln directory of your computer. 
  12. Click on OK when done. 
  13. VAMPP should have the milk weights updated. 
  14. To view milk weights in cow records, go to Entries: production: milk test date 
  15. Select the option: Transfer milk test date
  16. If desired, record the bulk tank fat, protein and SCC values (to review 305D corrected values)

Create an automatic milk weight transfer scheduled event in Dairyplan in the Windows scheduler. 

  1. Click on the Windows Task Scheduler
  2. Click on Add Scheduled Task. 
  3. Click on Next
  4. Click on Browse
  5. In the window - select program to schedule, click on Dairypln
  6. Then click on the file name v-dpmilk and click on Open.
  7. Select Daily and then define the time of day that you wish to have Dairyplan create a milk file each day for VAMPP to read in.
